Trading Signals vs Scanners vs Alerts vs Copy Trading
Identify what a subscription actually delegates: research, idea selection, condition monitoring, configured orders or account copying.

Start with the decision being delegated
The word signal appears in several product categories. It can describe a stock pick, a price threshold, an unusual transaction, a model publication or an operation copied from another account. Compare the actual decision being delegated rather than treating every occurrence of that word as the same product.
A useful purchase description names the input, the decision-maker, the output and the remaining subscriber responsibility. That description should fit an ordinary example. If the buyer cannot explain how the output would change their routine, a feature list is not yet a meaningful reason to subscribe.
Research and pick subscriptions
Research helps a reader assess an opportunity or interpret a model. A pick subscription supplies an externally selected idea. Neither description automatically implies an order in the reader's account. Inspect the fields, updates and assumptions needed to turn the publication into a decision.
For this category, evaluate the clarity of the original material and its source record. A credential describes the author, while a complete publication history describes the service. If a seller provides a performance summary, identify whether it represents hypothetical research, a publisher account or actual subscribers.
Scanners discover candidates
A scanner searches a universe for selected conditions. Its output can help a user discover instruments they would not otherwise inspect. The user still needs a rule for accepting or rejecting a candidate. Trade Ideas' public guide provides an example of a documented scanning workflow.
A scan hit is therefore not equivalent to a completed trade. Preserve the configuration, time and complete candidate list in an evaluation. Measuring only the candidates later chosen by the trader confuses scanner output with human selection. More hits can increase workload without improving the decision.
Chart alerts watch conditions
A chart alert monitors a selected condition. TradingView's help distinguishes alert types, including price and technical conditions. The alert mechanism can be useful even when the rule has no independently demonstrated trading edge; it may simply tell a reader when to inspect something.
Identify who wrote the rule, when its state is known and what the user does after the notification. If an external script is involved, review that script and purchase separately. A platform's documented notification feature should not become a blanket endorsement of everything its community publishes.
Information events are another category
A news platform can flag a market event or organise a source stream. Benzinga Pro's handbook defines its signals component in event terms. An event notification may require substantial interpretation before it becomes a trade thesis, and some events properly lead to no action.
Compare source coverage, useful filtering and the ability to trace an event to its origin. Do not measure information quality solely by subsequent price movement. A report can be correct while the market reaction differs from your interpretation or the price already incorporates the information.
Automation and copying move toward account action
Automation follows configured rules and a supported account route. Copying follows operations from a selected leader account. Option Alpha and the MetaTrader signal manual illustrate these distinct mechanisms. The subscription still requires decisions about configuration, compatibility and risk.
Evaluate order rejection, partial fills, symbol availability, synchronization and remaining positions. An account connection transfers operational responsibilities differently from reading research. A history belonging to a leader or simulation is not automatically the history of a follower or live configured bot.
Choose alternatives by task
Write one sentence describing the missing part of your process. If you need an externally developed thesis, compare research providers. If you need candidate discovery, compare scanners. If you need to monitor your own rule, compare chart alerts. If you want account action delegated, evaluate the specific automation or copying route.
Products may complement each other, but every extra subscription adds cost and complexity. Establish which existing task it replaces, what evidence supports the purchase and what would lead you to cancel. That produces a meaningful shortlist without requiring a universal winner across incompatible categories.
